“A” phrase or “Sexy” phrase

Published on October 6, 2008

In domestic canary, the song emission is subjected to motor

constraints. There is a negative correlation between the male

ability to emit syllables with a high rhythm (more than 16 syllables

per second) and syllables with a large frequency bandwidth

(more than 4 Khz). Phrases constituted of these two parameters

are called A phrases or sexy phrases. Studies showed that

these phrases were more attractive and stimulating for females.
