Research Interests

Conflicts and cooperation at the time of the search for food in the domestic canary (serinus canaria) and the pigeon (columbia livia): how to benefit as well from information?

Sociality has both costs and benefits, in particular concerning the search for food. Animals can enter in conflict but they can also choose to cooperate with their conspecifics in this search for food. Both strategies can coexist in the same species, and are frequently observed in birds. During my thesis, I study these strategies and the factors that influence an individual to choose one strategy or the other in two species of birds: canaries (Serinus canaria), tested in the laboratory for a better control of the parameters, and pigeons (Columbia livia), tested in the field to have a more complete and naturalist vision of the processes involved. This second species was also selected in the hope of bringing solutions to the problems arising from pigeons in cities.
